Volunteer update August 10, 2011

Hey Everyone,

We need help, especially with cooking, please see below for details. Otherwise we need help at the big closing party on Saturday (Equeerie fundraiser) If you’re not a night owl, then you could help us man the welcome table during the day on Saturday at the book fair / workshops at Centre St Pierre. We also need help creating catchly posters at the parade intervention. The Tom tom workshop that’s been cancelled at 1pm on Saturday has been replaced with a parade internvention preparation workshop. To volunteer, email us at perverscite@gmail.com.

Cooking:
We need volunteers  this friday (aug 12th) starting at 10AM  to help us prepare food for the *second* day of Pervers/cité workshops  and the Queer Between the Covers zine/bookfair that will take place on august 7th.  We’ll be making food for about 70 people. (The bookfair and workshops will happen at Centre Saint-Pierre in the village at 1212 Panet).

Thank you so much to the volunteers who came to help last week, the food was plentiful and delicious, everyone at the workshops *really* enjoyed it and appreciated it.

The food preparation will happen at the Midnight Kitchen at McGill. The kitchen is located on the 3rd floor (room 304) of the Shatner/SSMU Building (3480 McTavish Street). McTavish is one street West of McGill College, the building is up the hill from Sherbrooke, just below the corner of McTavish and Dr.Penfield. The building is wheelchair accessible.

We’ll start cooking at 10AM until it’s all done. Last time we finished cooking around 3:30pm and finished cleanup by 5:30pm. If you want to come in the afternoon you can call us to check if we’re still cooking. The kitchen number is 514-398-3751 or if there’s no answer (hard to hear phone) call Beth who is the MK contact and will be there all day: 514-436-3192. It would be nice if you could tell me if you’re planning on coming and roughly what time, so we know how many people we’ll have. But you can also just show up and stay for as long or short (1 hour) a time as you want.

The food will be vegan, nut-free, with gluten-free option.

We know that you’ve all been waiting with baited breath for Pervers/cite to start, but radness like this doesn’t happen without lots of help. So if you’re the helpful type, why not volunteer?

All kinds of talents are required but we’re especially looking for people to:

-perform whisper translation (english to french/french to english)
-help with setting up/taking down certain events
-poster and flyer across the whole city before Pervers/cite ( and during.)
-chauffeur us and our supplies (gas expenses could be covered.)
-help us with food prep and serving
